![]() Ultrasn0w doesn't have the wifi issues that some people (10-20%) report when using geohot's blacksn0w unlock on 05.11. You really want to keep that 04.26 baseband on there because then you can keep using ultrasn0w. The key part of that advice is “do not do a stock Apple upgrade to 3.1.2”. Redsn0w works by modifying your current filesystem, so your existing baseband, data and applications should remain intact.ĪDVICE: DO NOT USE REDSN0W AFTER DOING A STOCK APPLE UPGRADE TO 3.1.2 IF YOU NEED A CARRIER UNLOCK AND ARE CURRENTLY USING BASEBAND 04.26 OR EARLIER. (redsn0w doesn't touch your baseband but it doesn't help preserve it during an upgrade either). ![]() On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. Update #3: Version 0.9.11b4 completes the tethered JB support for 5.1.1 on A4 devices and earlier, including proper “Stitching” and “Custom” creation of NO_BB IPSWs.ĭownload RedSn0w 0.9.Redsn0w doesn't require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn't even use iTunes at all). Update #2: Version 0.9.11b3 should fix the spurious “Restore failed” messages people were sometimes getting, and it behaves better with nearby devices that have wifi syncing enabled! Version 0.9.11b2 adds support for that second “9A406” flavor of 5.0.1 for the iPhone4S. It’ll be in the next update, but in the meantime check if Cydia or TU saved your blobs for the other 5.0.1 for iPhone4S (“9A405”). Update #1: We accidentally left out one of the two flavors (“9A406”) of 5.0.1 for iPhone4S. ![]() You can download RedSn0w 0.9.11b2 from the links below… We’ll be posting step by step instruction to downgrade your iPhone 4S, iPad 3 and iPad 2 using RedSn0w shortly. We recommend sticking to the previous version 0.9.10b8b unless you’re specifically using this new feature, until all the bugs are worked out! (Note: If redsn0w gets stuck at the “Waiting for device” stage for more than 30 seconds, you’ve hit a pesky GUI bug…that will be fixed in an upcoming version!)
